In 1988, Olavo embarked on his journey in the realm of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under the esteemed guidance of Carlson Gracie in Brazil. Following rigorous training at the renowned Brazilian Top Team, he ventured to Abu Dhabi, where he played a pivotal role in disseminating the art of BJJ throughout the region. In 2012, he made his mark in Phuket, assuming the role of head BJJ coach at Phuket Top Team for an extensive period. Now a revered figure in the global BJJ community, with numerous affiliated gyms worldwide, Olavo is set to embark on a new chapter by establishing his own gym at Born to Roll in the picturesque locale of Phuket, Thailand.
